I have been using this type of compass since 1981 for land plotting and title work in Texas and it is far superior to using any other type of compass. I have bought them in the past and given them to other land professionals as gifts. If I could change anything, perhaps manufacturer could offer it in a colored transparent plastic to make it easier to locate in a briefcase or folder or even on a work table or desk.
